BA4 Placement at Mount Temple Comprehensive
As part of my BA Joint Honours in Fine Art & Education at the National College of Art & Design, I completed a post-primary teaching placement at Mount Temple Comprehensive School. This placement provided valuable experience in planning and delivering visual art lessons aligned with the Junior Cycle curriculum within a diverse and inclusive school environment.
Mount Temple’s strong emphasis on creativity, respect, and empathy had a significant influence on my teaching practice. Throughout the placement, I developed skills in classroom management, differentiation, and supporting students with additional educational needs. I actively engaged in collaborative planning and team-teaching, strengthening my communication skills and contributing to a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere. Drawing on the school’s rich culture of arts and music, I aimed to encourage student engagement, confidence, and creative expression while fostering mutual respect and understanding within the classroom.
